Showers and Thunderstorms Expected Sunday Evening

8:25pm Update: Heavier rain showers moving along and north of Highway 20 Sunday evening with the biggest threats being heavy downpours.  Most of this activity will remain close to the Wisconsin/Illinois state line, with little precipitation falling further south.

7:40pm Update: Thunderstorms moving through Rock County will impact Janesville and Beloit within the next 15-20 minutes.  Heavy downpours, frequent lightning and winds gusting to 45 mph will be possible.

7:10pm Update: A line of showers and thunderstorms continues to move through northwest Illinois Sunday evening.  Biggest threat with this line will be wind gusts to 45 mph and heavy downpours.

Showers and embedded thunderstorms will increase from the west Sunday evening as a cold front moves into southern Wisconsin.

Temperatures Sunday afternoon warmed into the low 70s area wide before skies turned mostly cloudy.  Showers and thunderstorms have been moving across northeast Iowa and southwest Wisconsin Sunday afternoon and evening, with a few severe thunderstorm warnings in Iowa and Wisconsin.

These have been developing ahead of a cold front that will move into southern Wisconsin late Sunday night and northern Illinois Monday afternoon.  Showers with a few embedded thunderstorms will increase in coverage from the west from between now and 11pm, impacting Rockford and surrounding areas between 8pm and 11pm.  Severe weather is not expected but a few of the stronger storms could have gusty winds.  Heavy downpours and frequent lightning can be expected.

Any shower and thunderstorm activity will remain isolated overnight, into Monday morning.
