Winds are expected to strengthen quickly throughout the day on Tuesday in Rockford. The day will start out with winds at 10-15mph and weak gusts. As a strong storm system makes its way over the area, winds will begin to climb on through the evening where we could see sustained winds of 20-25mph with gusts near 40mph. This is the same system that brought severe weather to much of the Great Plains on Monday. These strong winds in conjunction with frequent showers and a high only in the mid-50's will result in an awfully cold and gloomy Tuesday.
