At 6am, the temperature at the Chicago/Rockford Int'l Airport dropped to -16°, making it the coldest morning we've seen so far this winter season. Dixon was down to -24°! The previous coldest temperature was -12° back on February 3rd.
It's important to remember that frostbite can occur within a matter of 20-30 minutes to exposed skin, so the hat, gloves and scarf are a must this morning!
