Heavy Rainfall Wednesday Night Leads to River Flooding

A Flood Warning has been issued for the South Branch of the Kishwaukee River in DeKalb until Friday morning.  Radar estimated and spotter reported rain totals between 2" and 4"  occurred late Wednesday night in Lee and DeKalb counties.  This did cause minor flooding and caused a portion of Highway 30 to be closed for a period of time due to rising water waist deep.

At approximately 3:15pm Thursday afternoon the current stage of the Kishwaukee River was at 10.6 feet.  Flood stage is at 10.0 feet.  Minor flooding is occurring and is expected to occur through Friday.  The current river forecast calls for the river stage to drop below flood level by Friday afternoon.

If you encounter a flooded roadway DO NOT attempt to drive through it.  Even if you believe it is very shallow.  Find another route.
