From Light Snow to Arctic Cold

Good evening Stateline. We currently have some flurries making their way through the Stateline. Earlier in the day, it was hard for any snow to reach the ground as we had a layer of dry air just above the surface. Now that the dry air has eroded, the snow is now finally reaching the ground.

We keep the chances for light snow into the early hours of tomorrow morning. Light accumulations are expect, but be mindful of any slick spots out on the roads.

Early tomorrow morning, a strong cold front will pass through the Stateline switching the winds to the Northwest. This will allow the cold arctic air to slowly move towards the viewing area.

After that cold front passes, a high off to the west and a low off to the NE will keep that strong northwest flow in place. Winds could be gusting up to 25 mph at times on Sunday.

Temperatures will only rise into the upper teens, then dropping down into the negatives Monday morning. Also, wind chills, Monday morning will be as low at -25°. Definitely bundle up as you head out the door on Monday!

Definitely a very cold start to the month of March. Typically, we are seeing highs in the low 40's, but temperatures will be between 20° to 30° below average. In other words, Winter is not letting up just yet.

This cold arctic air has the potential to break a few daily records. Here is what we are forecasting compared to the daily records. On the bright side, temperatures look to rebound into the low 30's by next weekend. Hopefully Spring can start pushing winter out of the region.
