Rivers Quick to Rise Following Heavy Rainfall Tuesday Night

Flood Warnings continue for the Rock, Pecatonica and Kishwaukee Rivers as those rivers have been pushed into minor and moderate flood stage following Tuesday night's heavy rainfall.  Rainfall totals across northern Illinois ranged anywhere from 0.30 inches, up to nearly 0.80 inches in Rockford.

Additional showers Wednesday evening will add another half an inch to three quarters of an inch
of rain to northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.  River forecasts have the river stages rising into moderate flood stage, with some points coming close to major flood stage, by this weekend or early next week.

A Flood Warning is also in effect for Stephenson County as much of the rain that came down Tuesday night caused flooding of agricultural land, as well as creeks and streams forcing officials to close some roads across the county.  Not only will flooding be a concern for those along the river, but also in low lying areas as much of the water has no place to go.  A few scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will continue in Thursday morning and early afternoon.
