Rainy Start to the Morning, More on the Way!

6:30 AM Update: Good morning Stateline! We had some rain, heavy at times, move in last night and continue into the early hours of this morning. Most of the heavier rain has pushed off to the east with some scattered showers off to the west.

Let's take a look at rainfall totals so far this morning. Rockford has already received over a 3/4 of an inch with other spots hovering around the .5" mark. With round 1 now pushing to the east, we will see scattered showers today before round 2 arrives this evening.

A flood watch is still in effect this morning for our Southern Wisconsin counties (Green, Rock, and Walworth) as well as Jo-Daviess, Stephenson, and Carroll counties. This watch will continue until 7 AM Friday morning.

8:10 AM Update

It's a foggy start to the morning after all that heavy rain moved through. Everyone across the viewing area are experiencing less than 3 mile visibility. Freeport is down to a mile and a half and Galena and Monroe are down to 0. Please take extra caution as you head out on the roads this morning.

As we head into the afternoon, we still have a chance for scattered showers throughout the viewing area. Rain chances increase as we head into this evening. Rain could be heavy at times before it begins to taper off throughout the day on Thursday. The red bars at the bottom indicate chances for thunder. A few thunderstorm could move through the region tonight and also underneath those thunder ... heavy rain is possible.

After receiving 3/4 of an inch of rain this morning, we could tackle on another quarter to a half inch across the Stateline tonight. Rockford's daily precipitation record for today is 1.25". We could push or even break that tonight!

10:30 PM Update: A Dense Fog Advisory has been issued for Green & Rock counties until 1 PM this afternoon. Expect visibility to drop to near a 1/4 of a mile at times heading into this afternoon.

Some spots including Monroe and Galena are already experiencing visibility under a half mile. If you are heading out this morning, please make sure to take extra caution while out on the roads!

Also, a Flash Flood Watch has been issued for Winnebago, Boone, McHenry, Dekalb, Ogle, Lee, Walworth, and Whiteside counties until next Wednesday. Stephenson county has been upgraded to a Flood Warning which also goes into next Wednesday.

A lot of major flooding problems as most of the rivers right now are close to or are at the "action" stage. But a combination of the warm temperatures, the snow melt, and recent rainfall will heighten the flooding risk and put some of the rivers at a moderate level.

In the vicinity of an overflowing river, you could encounter a flooded roadway. If you do, turn around and find an alternate route to your destination. Remember to Turn Around & Don't Drown!
