Southwest winds Monday afternoon will give temperatures a boost over the 40's and 50's we were at this past weekend. Unfortunately, the clouds will also be on the increase making the high of 60 degrees feel a little cooler. A cold front will sweep through after 8pm this evening bringing with it a line of showers into Tuesday morning. Rainfall amounts don't look like much, right around a quarter of an inch, with the rain ending after 9am Tuesday.
An active jet stream coming in from the northwest will keep 'clipper' type systems diving into the northern Plains and Midwest. If this were winter, we'd be talking about snow but temperatures will be warm enough, at least during the day, to support mainly rain. Even at this point, the rain totals don't look to add up to much.
With each system that passes, we'll flirt with cooler temperatures through the end of the week. Highs through Wednesday will stay in the 50's, but then drop into the 40's beginning Thursday and lasting through the weekend. While it's a little ways out, models are beginning to hint at another possible cold snap for early next week. Another blocking ridge pattern up western Canada and into Alaska could force cold air down through the Midwest and Great Lakes as early as Monday evening. If this were to hold true, highs next week might not make it out of the 30's.
