As we deal with our current cold blast, you might remember we had a similar drop in temperatures this time last year.
Wednesday's high in Rockford officially topped out at 30°. Last year at the same time, we had a high of 31° in Rockford. That's where the similarities end, though. Last year, we saw a huge warm-up just days later. That warm-up was part of a storm system that produced the Washington, Illinois tornado, which was the strongest November tornado to ever hit Illinois.
This year, we'll see a much different forecast moving forward. By the beginning of next week, temperatures are forecast to drop into the 20s.
Models are suggesting we won't get back to near-normal temperatures until the end of next week. -BA
