Several low pressure systems moving within the jet stream will leave us feeling a little dizzy by the end of the week. The up and down temperature swing continues for another day this afternoon with highs back into the 50's after Tuesday's mid 40's. So, why all the up and down weather lately? You have to look at the wind and where it comes from.
Wind flows counter clockwise around low pressure and clockwise around high pressure. This means as low pressure approaches, a south breeze warms us. Just like we had Monday and what we'll have this afternoon. Behind low pressure, the winds shifts to either a west or northwest direction. Either one, this time of year, can bring the Great Lakes chills, and with several of these systems lined up this week, the colder air gets pushed further and further into the Stateline. An even stronger low Saturday and next week will really cause the mercury to drop making it feel more like the end of November/beginning of December rather than the beginning of November.
