Warmth to continue this week and next

As a cut-off low moves off the northeast coast another storm system will move onshore in the west.  This will likely cause big weather headaches for those residents but for us the ridge of high pressure will only strengthen as it moves southeast.  Temperatures this week will run a good 10 to 15 degrees above normal and this warmth will continue into next week.

The strength of the upper level ridge may weaken some late this weekend/early next week as that storm in the west moves further east into the Plains.  As it does a cold front will move closer to help turn the jet stream winds more zonal, or from west to east.  As this happens the chance for precipitation will also increase with the front laying close to the Great Lakes.  That's why the Climate Prediction Center has us on the outer edge of the above average precipitation for the middle of next.  So look for dry conditions this week and weekend and only a chance for rain as early as next Tuesday.
