Back To Normal For The 4th

The start of July has had more of a late May feel to it, but we'll be back on track just in time for the 4th of July holiday.

Tuesday was especially out of the ordinary. Heavy cloud cover and a few showers across the eastern parts of the Stateline kept temps from warming much. Thanks to a few breaks of late afternoon sun, Rockford officially hit 72 for the day. That's two years in a row of unusual weather for July 3rd: Last year, our highs nearly hit triple digits!

Fortunately, Thursday is looking great. Highs should warm back into the low 80s thanks to a mix of sun and clouds for the afternoon. The newest model runs have pretty much taken out any rain chances, but a very isolated shower could still pop in the afternoon. With fireworks set to start in Rockford around 9:30pm, we're looking very comfortable with a few clouds and temps in the low 70s. Enjoy your 4th! -BA
