Heat Advisory in Effect

A Heat Advisory is in effect for Green, Rock and Walworth counties in southern Wisconsin and for Stephenson, Jo Daviess, Carroll and Whiteside counties beginning today and lasting through Friday evening.  This will be the third day with high temperatures in the low 90s and heat index values ranging between 98° and 102°.   Temperatures today, Thursday and Friday will also rise into the low 90s with the heat index approaching 100° all three days.  As Meteorologist Brandon Arnold talked about in a previous post, different National Weather Service offices have different criteria for issuing heat advisories.   So even though the Rockford area and surrounding counties are not under a heat advisory yet, doesn't mean you shouldn't take the necessary precautions.  It takes a few days to begin to feel the effects of heat and with three more days of temperatures in the low 90s and heat index values near 100° it may start to get a little dangerous if you're not careful.
