Saturday afternoon weather update

The snow continues to fall this afternoon with a few more moderate to heavier bands found across Northwest Illinois.  Roads are not in the greatest shape and will continue to remain slick and somewhat snow covered into the evening.  The snowfall should begin to wind down within the next few hours, but because the snow to liquid ratios are fairly high with temperatures only in the middle teens, the snow will be very powdery and fluffy.

Here are a few snowfall totals through this afternoon (some reports are from earlier this afternoon):

Updated Freeport total: 4" (Still lightly snowing - very fluffy snow)

Freeport - 3.5"
Kingston - 2.5" (Still Snowing)
Stockton - 2.5" (Still snowing with 1/2 mile visibility)
Erie - 2.2"
S. Beloit - 2.0"
Sublette - 2.0"
Marengo - 1.8"
Belvidere - 1.5"
Dixon - 1.4"
DeKalb - 1.1"
