Wednesday morning snow update

11:40am Update: The Winter Weather Advisory has been canceled for Stephenson, Carroll, Whiteside and Jo Daviess counties.

9:45 am Update:  Roads remain slick and snow covered this morning.  There have been numerous reports of accidents and cars going into ditches.  The morning will be the most hazardous, however, road conditions going into the afternoon and evening will still remain slick due to north winds 10-20 mph.  Blowing and drifting snow will continue to remain a threat.

Due to the blowing snow, the visibility remains low all across N. Illinois and S. Wisconsin.  The snow continues to wind down, but a few lighter snow showers and flurries will persist into the afternoon.

7:30 am update: Road conditions update from our Sales Manager, Kelly
'All roads out of Winnebago completely snow covered.  Smith Rd. & Winnebago Rd. down to one lane in most areas due to blowing & drifting.  Plows have been out but can't keep up with the blowing & drifting.'

Illinois Road Conditions
Wisconsin Road Conditions

The heavier snow from overnight has moved east, however lighter snow will continue through mid to late morning.  Winds have picked up from the north causing the powdery snow to blow and drift, especially in east/west roads.

The greatest impact on travel will be this morning, but the wind will stay gusty through mid afternoon which will keep the snow blowing and drifting through the evening commute.  Many schools have either delayed their start times or have canceled for today.  For a complete list of those, click here.
