Falling Friday Temperatures and Accumulating Snow

You'll want to keep a heavier coat handy today - it'll be a cold one! Temperatures today will struggle to make it into the upper 20's and low 30's. And while those temperatures are right around average, wind chills will be in the teens and single digits today. Breezy westerly winds, at 15-20mph and gusts near 30mph will stick with us through the evening. Temperatures by midnight will fall to about 20° as the cloud cover decreases tonight. You'll wake up to chills in the single digits Saturday morning.

It's not only going to be cold today, but we'll even get some snow! A strong wave of energy will rotate through Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, and northern Illinois. This wave will create lift in the atmosphere that will help to squeeze out moisture, giving the Stateline a burst of snow showers. You'll notice light scattered snow showers through the afternoon but the best timing for moderate bands to move in will be around 3pm through the evening commute and ending around 8pm. These will be lighter scattered snow flurries, but if we get enough lift in the atmosphere, this could produce more moderate bands of snow. Overall, we won't see much but you can expect a dusting to about an inch by this evening. Just watch out for slick spots on your way home and periods of time with reduced visibilities.

Temperatures warm Sunday into next week, so unfortunately the snow won't stick around!
