Record Tied Thursday, More to Come this Weekend

Even though we had a mostly cloudy sky at times, a very warm start Thursday morning was our springboard to an unseasonably warm afternoon.

High temperatures in Rockford reached 57 degrees.  This ties the record high which was set back in 1911.  That's a 104 year old record!!

More records this weekend are in jeopardy.  Not only for the highs, but also for the record warm low temperatures.

We likely won't see any records achieved Friday, but for both Saturday and Sunday not only are the record high temperatures in jeopardy, but the record lows as well!  Following this warmth temperatures are expected to drop back to seasonable, with highs in the 30's.

With all this warmth, it makes you wonder if our climate is trying to tell us something.  These numbers that are 20-25 degrees above average are not that common for the month of December.  Whether you believe it or not, our climate is warming.  With these warm spells, it makes you wonder just how many warm days we have coming.
