Beautiful Thursday Evening Sky for the Start of Meteorological Spring

Welcome to Meteorological Spring!!  The day started off with a little rain, but very little snow as low pressure was quick to move into Indiana Thursday morning.

Sunshine returned Thursday afternoon with temperatures warming back into the mid 40's.

A weak upper level disturbance moved through the western Great Lakes late Thursday afternoon, sparking off very isolated showers over northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.  But very little of the rain actually reached the ground because the atmosphere below the rain cloud was very dry.  The second picture on the left the rain falling from the cloud, but evaporating before reaching the surface.  This is known as 'virga'.

Moon Rising
Kathy - Rockton, IL
This wasn't the only view in the sky Thursday evening.  The moon rising in the east was also a very beautiful sight.  Kathy also captured this picture of the moon rising near Rockton.
