A Soggy Week Ahead

A rainy start to this weekend, with temperatures only hitting the low 50's this afternoon.  Luckily, we've been downgraded to a Marginal Risk, as the cooler temperatures have kept instability on the lower side.  However, we still can't rule out a quick wind gust and some small-sized hail with the isolated storms, and we're still going to have to deal with some heavy rain as well.

As we head into early evening the showers will stay fairly isolated, but afterwards we'll start to see more scattered showers with heavier rain, and a few isolated thunderstorms as well.  Pea to dime-sized hail would be the largest hail we see, so not a big concern there.  However, with the heavy rain moving through in addition to the heavy rain from Friday night, flooding will be a concern heading through the weekend, so definitely stay cautious if you live in a low-lying area or near a body of water.

As we head into the overnight, the showers will become isolated again due to the warm front slightly drifting southward, but there will still be some areas of heavy rain.  However, thunder chances stay low for the overnight.

Once we reach Sunday morning drier air from the northeast will move in, clearing the rain out of the area.  The dry time lasts through the afternoon, but we'll stay mostly cloudy during that time.  However, there will be a few peaks of sun mid-day, which will help warm our temperatures near 70° during the afternoon.

As we head into Sunday evening, the warming temperatures will generate some instability along the warm front, bringing us chances for isolated thunderstorms for Sunday evening.  We are under a Marginal Risk for severe weather during that time, but more than likely our storms are not going to be severe as instability stays below severe levels.

The warm front will keep some showers lingering with us during the overnight Sunday night, but those clear out by Monday morning.  Most of Monday stays dry with temperatures warming back into the mid 70's.  However, by Monday evening this low pressure system will move closer to our area, bringing thunderstorms back to the Stateline.

Multiple storm chances will be in play during the work week, as an active pattern in the upper level of the atmosphere will generate multiple systems.  Some storms next week could be on the strong side, and the rain chances that come with them will also keep the flooding risk in play, so be weather aware this coming week!
