Thunderstorms Move In Wednesday Morning - Could Last into the Afternoon

A quiet Tuesday night will lead to thunderstorms by sunrise Wednesday.  Cloud cover will continue to increase this evening helping to hold temperatures in the upper 50's, to near 60 degrees by Wednesday morning.

Showers and thunderstorms moving through Minnesota will work into Wisconsin this evening while additional thunderstorms are expected to develop over Iowa and northern Missouri between 8pm and 10pm.  These thunderstorms will be forming ahead of an elevated warm front that will move into northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin Wednesday morning.  The severe potential is low with these storms but some could be strong enough to produce small hail.  The chance for thunderstorms will last through mid-morning.  A break in some of the thunderstorm activity is expected around Noon and early afternoon.  But an advancing cold front from the northwest late afternoon could help to redevelop thunderstorms between 3pm and 5pm.

The overall severe threat for northern Illinois appears low, but with the cold front and potential for some clearing to occur early afternoon any storms that do develop could produce some gusty winds and hail.
