October 2018 Recap

Looking back over the month of October, there are two main takeaways. 1: It was rather rainy. 2: It was rather chilly.
We were well over our average rainfall for the month of October after only 10 days into the month. We saw nearly 4 inches of rain within the first 10 days. In the end, we saw 5.39" of rainfall. Our average rainfall for October should be 2.67". With all the rain the number of wet/dry days was pretty even. While 16 days we saw rain, 15 days were dry. October will go down as the 10th wettest October on record for Rockford.

Looking back over the year so far, we have seen 44.89" of rain. That is 13.28" above our average for the year so far. All but 3 months we were above average, and even two of the months (February and June) we saw record rainfall.

Looking at the 8-14 day outlook, we have a pretty decent chance of seeing wetter than normal conditions.
The second takeaway was that October was rather chilly. 23 of the 31 days were below average. Only 8 days were above average, and two of those occurred this past Tuesday and Wednesday.

Looking at the 8-14 day outlook, we have a pretty decent chance of seeing cooler than normal conditions.
