Last night's storms provided some much-needed rainfall for some in the Stateline. Extremes range from reports of more than 2" in Northern Stephenson County to no rainfall at the Rockford airport. Rochelle saw just over 1/2 inch, while Monroe, WI reported 0.37" at their observation site.
Following the cold front that brought last night's storms, it is another dry afternoon as the rain along that front has cleared well to our Southeast. That has given us lots of sunshine for Friday afternoon.
That sunshine allowed many spots to warm near 90°, as afternoon highs show most in the Stateline just a shade below that 90° mark as of 5PM.
Dry weather this evening will allow many spots to cool off just as quickly as we warmed though, a providing fabulous weather for our Friday night football games. Skies will remain mostly clear through the evening as temperatures fall from the mid-70s by kickoff to the low 70s by 9PM.
Overnight, the continued clear skies allow for overnight lows to drop into the upper 50s, a bit cooler than last night due to the lack of rain. Winds will remain light flipping from the Northwest to the Southeast by Saturday morning. It will be another warm and dry day on Saturday, with highs reaching close to 90° for most again. Next chances for rain begin Saturday night into Sunday.
