Quiet Start to the Week

With low pressure departing off to the east, a ridge of high pressure over the plains has taken charge of area weather.  Skies have become partly cloudy, and it will be colder as drier air moves in from the north dropping temperatures down into the upper teens by 6 am.  The ridge of high pressure will move across the Stateline Sunday and Sunday night.  It will be a quiet day on Sunday with partly to mostly sunny skies along with a lighter easterly breeze.  Clouds will start to increase on Sunday night as a new storm system pushes across the Rockies, and begins to pull itself together over the southern plains.  Monday will be mostly cloudy, and some light snow could develop by Monday night.  On Tuesday there may be some light rain with southeasterly winds beginning to tap some Gulf moisture with an intensifying storm over the Texas panhandle.  It will be windy by late in the day Tuesday, and there could be some locally heavy rainfall Tuesday night and early Wednesday along with some overnight thunderstorms.  An intense storm will be located near the Quad Cities by 6 am on Wednesday.  Rain will mix with snow on Wednesday afternoon as colder air wraps in behind the storm as it accelerates northeast toward Lake Huron by early 6 am Thursday morning.  On Thursday it will be partly cloudy and cool with diminishing winds.  There will be another quick warm up on Friday as winds shift to the southwest giving the Stateline a chance at 50 degree temperatures.  On Saturday another storm system moving across the upper peninsula of Michigan will drag a couple of new cold fronts across the midwest bringing the Stateline a chance of some rain showers and cooler temperatures on Sunday.
