So far in June, the Rockford area has picked up a little over a quarter inch of rain, however other areas have received more with the scattered thunderstorms we've seen. The rain chances remain minimal through this afternoon and evening, tied closer to a stalled frontal boundary, but really ramp up for the end of the week. A low pressure system will track north east across the plains today and this evening and will bring the threat for heavy rain as early as Thursday afternoon. The low will track across northern Iowa and central Wisnconsin and an associated warm front will help to bring the heavy rain through northern Iowa and Wisconsin where the greatest lift is. Along a trailing cold front the Stateline area could also receive
heavier downpours through Friday morning. The system looks to be out of the area by late Friday afternoon, but not before bringing around an inch of rain for northern Illinois....and possibly four or more inches for portions of Iowa and Wisconsin.
