Severe Weather Possible this Weekend

The weather leading into the weekend should stay pretty quiet. Friday will remain dry with temperatures in the 70's. By Saturday morning, a warm front will lift north through northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin bringing temperatures into the mid and upper 80's by Saturday afternoon.

Thunderstorms will likely be ongoing throughout the northern plains Saturday morning. Those storms will move Southeast into Iowa by Saturday afternoon following a low pressure system. While most of our afternoon should stay dry, storm chance will increase through the evening and overnight hours as a complex of thunderstorms will likely form and move into the western Great Lakes. Heavy rain and strong winds will be the primary threat heading into Saturday evening and overnight.

Thunderstorms are possible during the afternoon so if you have outdoor plans, make sure you remain weather aware and have a way to receive watches and warnings. We'll keep you updated throughout the weekend not only here, but on Twitter @firstwarnwx and on Facebook!
