Sunday's weather update

9:50pm Update: A line of showers outlines where the cold front is in Northern Illinois.  This should be the end of any rain tonight.  More storms are possible Monday afternoon.

7:50pm Update: Cold front moving into Northern Illinois shortly before 8pm.  We could see a few showers, isolated storm, fire up with the front but our severe threat has greatly diminished.

5:35pm Update: A cold front sits right near the Wisconsin/Illinois border and has been the reason for thunderstorms this afternoon.  The most unstable air mass was just south of Rockford today, and that's where severe weather has fired up from southern Iowa to south of I-80 and south of Chicago.   Right now, heavy rain continues to fall south of I-88 near Steward and moving into Lee near the Lee/DeKalb County line.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for Winnebago, Boone, Ogle, Lee and DeKalb counties until 8pm.

Most of the active severe weather has remained well south of the Rockford area, closer to I-80 and Chicago.  There, numerous severe thunderstorm warnings and even flash flood warnings have were issued.

Thunderstorms have developed closer to home, but nothing has been severe and really, our severe threat is looking fairly low for the evening.  However, any rain or storms that do move through will be very heavy rain producers.  Our storm threat will decrease as the sun sets this evening and the cold front passes.
