6:55pm Update: All warnings have been canceled, but heavy rain producing thunderstorms will continue through the evening. Right now, storms moving over the I-39 corridor from Steward to Paw Paw could have wind gusts to 45 mph, but also some very heavy rain. Additional thunderstorms near the Quad Cities may track slightly further southeast, but we'll continue to monitor.
Also, the Chicago National Weather Service is looking for anyone who may have sustained, or know of any areas that may have received tree damage from the earlier warned storm in Lee County. It's the area shaded on the map to the left. If you did receive damage, or know of any tree damage, please let us know so we can relay that information to the National Weather Service. Email: weather@wtvo.com with your exact location.
The Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Whiteside County has been canceled, but it continues for Lee County until 6:30pm. This storm is moving to the east around 40 mph.
Heavy rain producing thunderstorms from earlier Monday have ended, but additional showers - and now a few severe thunderstorms - have developed ahead of a cold front.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Whiteside and Lee counties until 6:30pm. This storm has shown signs of strengthening a bit as it develops into a more unstable air mass. Biggest threat will be strong winds and heavy rainfall. Wind gusts to 60 mph will be possible as the northern edge of the storm begins to strengthen a little. Remember that if a warning is issued for your area, remain indoors and away from windows.
