The Stateline has seen a string of gorgeous days with highs in the low 80's on Friday, low 70's Saturday, and a near 70 degree forecast for Sunday. However, after a comfortable Mother's Day the weather pattern turns more active for the start of the week.
A cold front has settled in southern Illinois, which is where the storm threat will be Saturday night and Sunday. As the warm front begins to lift north Sunday night, ongoing showers and storms in northern Missouri will also lift north by Monday morning. This will likely lead to a wet start in the morning.
That front will continue to lift north and be the focus for additional thunderstorms through Tuesday night. A cold front will then move in by Wednesday evening bringing an end to the heavier rain threat. Winds will turn westerly behind the front, so temperatures won't drop much into Thursday. A stronger cold front moves in Friday bringing a quick chance for rain, but what you'll really notice is the cooler air mass that follows for next weekend.
Rain totals across the area look to bring one to two inches through Wednesday. The heaviest rain will be in central Illinois, where they could see up to about four inches.
