A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for Winnebago, Boone, Ogle, Lee, DeKalb and McHenry counties until 10am Thursday morning.
The severe threat is winding down Wednesday evening but with high amounts of moisture in the atmosphere and a cold front now moving through northern Illinois, heavy rainfall will become a concern as multiple rounds of thunderstorms are likely overnight. The heaviest rain axis may lie just south of Rockford - more through Carroll, Ogle, DeKalb, Lee and Whiteside counties - where rainfall amounts could add up over two inches. But heavy rain is likely for everyone through Thursday morning.
Flash flooding is dangerous, but flash flooding at night is extremely dangerous. Remember to 'turn around, don't drown' and be careful early Thursday.
