The first week of May has been filled with plenty of warm and sunny afternoons. Monday was no exception with highs reaching the mid and upper 70's, and Tuesday will feature more of the same. But it's important to remember that even though it's not hot and humid outside, the temperature can still rise rather quickly inside your car - even on days when it's only 60 or 70 degrees.
Let's take an air temperature of 75 degrees, for example. In just ten minutes the inside of the car will have warmed nearly 20 degrees! In 20 minutes the inside the car will have warmed to over 100 degrees!
The sun's rays work to heat up the inside of the car. But like a greenhouse the majority of the heat is trapped inside. The longer the car sits, the hotter it gets. It's on days when the humidity is low and the temperature is 'comfortable' that tend to forget just how dangerously hot it can get inside a vehicle.
