Northwest winds have been increasing Friday evening as an unseasonably cold air mass moves into northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin, pushing temperatures into the upper teens and low 20's. Wind chills, however, have fallen into the low single digits - more typical of the chill felt in winter when there's a little more snow on the ground.
Winds will remain gusty through the night and into Saturday morning until high pressure moves in from the west. Skies are gradually clearing Friday evening setting the stage for a little more sunshine Saturday. It won't do much to warm us, however, as high temperatures are expected to only reach the low 30's - still twenty degrees below average.
