Light snow has been moving in over parts southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois, but not much of that is reaching the ground just yet. This is because of the dry layer of air just a few thousand feet above the surface of the earth. However, I do expect the snow to begin within the next hour or two (10pm/11pm) and that snow will continue through Saturday morning.
The snow will likely stick to the roads as temperatures have cooled enough over the past several days. Snowfall totals will range from 1"-3", but locally higher amounts will be possible, especially where bands of more moderate snow set up during the night.
The snow will shift south and move out of northern Illinois mid to late morning Saturday with skies remaining mostly cloudy through Saturday afternoon. Temperatures will remain in the mid 30's for both Saturday and Sunday.
