A steady rain will continue through the remainder of the evening, becoming more scattered after Midnight with areas of fog through early Tuesday morning. Rainfall totals will remain under a quarter of an inch for most, but there could be some spots that reach close to a few tenths of an inch.
A strong cold front will quickly race across northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin Tuesday morning ushering in a much cooler air mass Tuesday afternoon and evening. With the arrival of the cold air, however, winds will increase from the West as early as 10am and will continue through the evening. Wind gusts will reach 35mph, to perhaps 40mph, during the afternoon. This will push wind chills down into the 30's during the day and into the low 20's by Wednesday morning.
