Officially 1.8 inches of snow fell at the Rockford Airport Friday morning, breaking the previous daily snowfall record of 0.7 inches set back in 1990.
The majority of the snow did accumulate on grassy and elevated surfaces, but there were some slick spots on the roads, causing issues for the morning commute. Wind-whipped flurries/light snow will continue to rotate around low pressure Friday evening, but no additional accumulations are expected.
