Tuesday morning weather update

UPDATE 8AM: (12/6/2011 7:45:52 AM) nwsbot: DVN issues Winter Weather Advisory for Cedar, Clinton, Delaware, Des Moines, Dubuque, Henry, Iowa, Jackson, Jefferson, Johnson, Jones, Keokuk, Lee, Linn, Louisa, Muscatine, Scott, Van Buren, Washington [IA] and Clark, Scotland [MO] and Hancock, Henderson, Mercer, Rock Island [IL] till 2:00 PM CST

While the advisory is not for our viewing area, travel out west along any of the interstates or highways may be slick as snow is now falling on top of the freezing drizzle that fell earlier this morning.  There have been reports of accidents and cars in the ditch throughout eastern Iowa.  Still keeping with the light snow in the forecast today as the upper level disturbance moves in.

A weak upper level disturbance in the central Plains has produced light snow and freezing drizzle throughout eastern Iowa.  The light precipitation will continue to move northeast eventually into northern Illinois later this morning.  While we might not see a lot from it there may be enough moisture to keep those flurries or even a light mix going through the afternoon.  Temperatures will remain chilly with highs reaching the middle 30s.
