Smoke from fires in Canada drift into the Great Lakes

Did you notice the hazy sky and sun Tuesday morning?  It was kind of hard to miss.  Smoke from several Canadian wildfires has been blown into the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes the past couple of days, causing spectacular sunsets and sunrises.

Northwest winds in the upper levels of the atmosphere helped spread the smoke from the Canadian fires several hundred miles southeast out to the Ohio River Valley.  Beginning Wednesday, the upper level winds will shift more to the west, so we likely won't see the thick haze like we woke up to Tuesday morning.
