Brief Break from Humidity - Returns for the Fourth of July

Temperatures over the weekend warmed into the upper 80's and low 90's, but the heat index warmed well above 100 degrees Friday and Saturday.  The passing of a cold front Sunday evening will bring a brief break from some of the intense humidity on Monday, but temperatures will still warm into the mid and upper 80's.  Very seasonable for the beginning of July.

Winds shift around to the south by Tuesday and Wednesday, pushing temperatures back up near 90 degrees.  A strong ridge of high pressure will develop over the middle of the country, a pattern very typical during the month of July.  This will push the jet stream well north, shifting the main storm track into southern Canada through the middle of the week.

Dew point temperatures will also warm, reaching the low 70's by Tuesday evening and lasting through Thursday.  The increasing dew point temperature, combined with the air temperature, will once again push heat index values near 100 degree Wednesday and Thursday.

Isolated thunderstorms are possible Tuesday afternoon, with a better chance for late day storms Wednesday and Thursday.  Right now it looks like at least a 20-30 percent chance for storms around the time of fireworks Wednesday evening.
