Friday Night Severe Weather

Slight Risk for Severe Weather still in play for the eastern portion of the viewing area. Storm reports have come in showing wind damage out west, specifically in Jo Daviess county where a 70mph wind gust broke a window and flattened some corn.  Along with that, a tree was uprooted up in northwest Winnebago County.  Luckily the winds have died down, but we still need to be cautious through the overnight.

This activity will continue from late evening through the overnight, with heavy downpours being the main threat from the storms that move through.  Instability will go down, but it won't necessarily be low, which is why this will continue overnight.

The main threat will be localized flooding due to heavy downpours.  The moisture content in the atmosphere will allow any thunderstorm to produce some pretty heavy rainfall. Along with that, some 30-40 mph wind gusts will be possible as this line keeps pushing eastward.  Any hail that forms will be non-damaging.

The activity will die down late Saturday morning, becoming more isolated for the rest of Saturday. No severe activity is expected for Saturday
