Severe Potential Sunday Afternoon

5:00pm Update: All Severe Thunderstorm Watches and Tornado Watches for southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois have been allowed to expire early Sunday afternoon.  Thunderstorms did gain a little more strengthen once they passed east of the Stateline, but produced little damage for the immediate area.  Winds were, however, strong enough to bring down some smaller and medium sized tree branches across northern Illinois.  So far, no major damage has been reported.

A Tornado Watch has been issued for Green, Rock and Walworth counties in Southern Wisconsin until 7pm and a Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued until 8pm for Winnebago, Boone, McHenry, Ogle, Lee and DeKalb counties.

A line of thunderstorms, some strong, have developed ahead of a cold front Sunday afternoon.  Numerous severe thunderstorm warnings, and even tornado warnings, have been issued further north over Wisconsin - closer tied to better spin in the atmosphere and low pressure.

Biggest concerns with this line of storms moving through northern Illinois will be frequent lightning strikes, localized flooding and strong/damaging winds.  Storms will move through between 1:30pm and 6pm, clearing the majority of the Stateline after 7pm/8pm.
