A few wind-driven snow showers are now pushing into NW Illinois, centered mostly near Carroll and Whiteside Counties for now. A quick coating of snow and brief pockets of reduced visibility will be possible within these very narrow bands. Be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions! Most will remain snow-free aside from a few spotty flurries.

Aside from the gusty snow potential, it remains very windy out there! Wind gusts are approaching 40 mph for some as of 8PM. Strongest gusts could reach up to 45 mph, primarily around NW Illinois where a wind advisory is in effect until midnight.

Temperatures will continue to fall, down through the teens overnight. Winds will remain strong, placing overnight wind chills down below zero. Afternoon highs will only rebound to the low 20s Friday, but winds will ease by the afternoon.
