Lunar Eclipse visible early Wednesday morning
Early Wednesday morning, the earth will pass between the sun and the full moon making a total lunar eclipse visible shortly before dawn on October 8th, 2014.
According to earthsky.org, the October 2014 full moon passes directly through the earth's dark shadow. The total part of the eclipse will last roughly an hour, but the whole eclipse (partial and total) will last nearly 3 hours. Click here for more information on the full moon and viewing for the lunar eclipse.
For us in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin, this means the partial eclipse begins at 4:15am with totality beginning at 5:25am and ending at 6:24am on the morning of October 8th, 2014. The moon will set shortly after 7am Wednesday morning. When viewing, you'll want to make sure you look low on the western horizon. So, if you are interested in seeing the full moon and lunar eclipse, make sure you set your alarms early!
