It think the majority of us are excited to get out of the deep freeze this week! Temperatures this week will climb into the mid 30's and mid 40's! But with that, comes the melting of our recent snow pack. The added moisture will allow for several nights and mornings this week to develop fog, and at times even dense fog. Wednesday and Thursday have a better chance, so to speak, for dense fog with quite a bit of warm air arriving to the region.
The warm up is due to an incoming low pressure system that swings by on Thursday. Surface winds turn to the south ahead of this feature, and that will help to boost highs into the 40's, with areas just south of us getting to near 50°!
The low will bring drizzle on Wednesday and then rain for Thursday. Since the system is still several days out, there is still questions in regards to timing of any precipitation and how much. One thing you'll want to keep in mind is the potential for slick roads. Even though our air temperature will be rising, our pavement temperatures won't be. Pavement temperatures are very cold due to the recent deep freeze we experienced over the Stateline. This could allow for drizzle to freeze on surfaces, and potentially Thursday as well. This is not set in stone, but something we will be watching as we head through this week. The warmth this week could help to warm surface temperatures enough
to prevent this.
