Current road conditions:
http://www.gettingaroundillinois.com/winterconditions/
Surface temperatures continue to warm closer to freezing, but road surfaces may still lag the
freezing mark a bit this evening. With the precipitation ending, there should be some improvement on the treated roads closer to sunrise Monday, but untreated roads will remain slick. And be mindful of parking lots, sidewalks and driveways. Temperatures will remain in the upper 20's and low 30's through the early overnight, dropping back into the mid 20's by dawn Monday.
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Winnebago, Boone, Ogle, Lee, DeKalb and McHenry counties through Monday morning.
A mixture of freezing rain and sleet has been moving in from the south, with reports of minor ice accumulations over central and west-central Illinois, and now ice accumulations near Rockford are being reported.
Temperatures have remained below freezing at the surface, but continue to warm a few thousand feet above. Surface temperatures will most likely remain below freezing through the rest of the evening and overnight, keeping the threat for freezing rain through roughly 8pm/9pm. Light snow will then mix with some of the freezing rain, before transitioning over to all snow through midnight. Any snow accumulations will remain under half an inch.
Ice accumulations are expected to remain minor, but a glaze of ice on untreated roads will make them very slick this evening. Where the freezing rain persists a little longer, ice totals between 0.05 and 0.10 inches will be possible.
Most of the precipitation will be done around midnight, but untreated roads could still be slick through Monday morning.
