An incoming low pressure system will move out of the Rockies and will move eastward, passing through eastern Iowa and into Wisconsin. Ahead of this system we will get a lot of warm air to advect over northern Illinois which will help bring highs into the 40's for a couple of days. But as the low's incoming cold front gets closer, rain showers will develop in Iowa and move into northern Illinois. Scattered showers will be possible through Thursday morning and afternoon before the system's cold front brings colder air in. This will then allow for a change over to a wintry mix to even all snow by Thursday evening and overnight. This could bring minor accumulations by early Friday morning.
Friday and the weekend look much drier, but also much colder behind the front.
