We had a messy morning commute from the line of snow showers that moved through early this morning as part of a cold front. That cold front is now out, but those roads are still messy to do continue to drive cautiously! We'll see some flurries until mid-day, keeping mostly cloudy skies afterwards through the afternoon.
Once we get into the evening the skies will clear, and this will allow temperatures to drop very quickly along with the northerly winds that will keep pushing through our area. We'll be down in the negatives overnight, with wind chills around -20°. Wind Chill Advisories will be in effect tonight at 10pm, and stay in effect until Thursday at noon.
Behind that cold front is yet another high pressure system that'll be bringing that arctic air back into our area. That high will sink down towards us for the rest of the week, bringing in cold conditions, but also bringing us some sunshine to end the work week. Luckily, this will be the last shot of arctic air we get for a while, as a big pattern change is on the way for us.
That high pressure system will track southeast of us once we get into the weekend. Along with that, a low pressure system will track in from the west and sit in the plains. This will allow for a strong channeling of warm air to move through our area, and allow for a big temperature jump from Saturday into Sunday. The warm, moist air will allow for a wintry mix on Sunday, but it'll also bring our temperatures back into the 30's during the afternoon.
We keep the 30's to start the work week, with another shot of cold air. However, this shot of cold air will only cool us into the 20's once we get into Tuesday.
