Wintry Weather Wrapping Up

8:00pm Update: The Winter Weather Advisory has been canceled for northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.  Icy and slick conditions will continue on untreated surfaces through the night.  So use caution if you have to head out.

7:10pm Update: Road conditions continue to deteriorate this evening over much of north-central and northwest Illinois.  The Illinois Department of Transportation is reporting some highways and county roads to be partly covered with either snow or ice.

The majority of the wintry precipitation has ended, but the impacts from light freezing rain and quickly falling temperatures will still be felt through the overnight and early Friday morning.

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin through midnight, despite the wintry mix coming to an end.  Road conditions, especially untreated surfaces, will remain extremely slick and icy through the overnight.

Temperatures have already fallen into the low teens out over northwest Illinois, with wind chills dropping below zero.  Overnight lows will fall to the mid and low teens area wide keeping
untreated surfaces, along with bridges, overpasses and curves, slick through the Friday morning commute.

Highs on Friday will only warm into the low 20's.
