Flooding Already Occurring Monday Evening

(10:21:45 PM) nwsbot: Local Storm Report by NWS MKX: Janesville [Rock Co, WI] law enforcement reports FLOOD at 09:30 PM CST -- numerous roads closed due to flooding across the county.








Heavy rainfall earlier Monday evening has caused flooding over parts of Green and Rock counties in southern Wisconsin.  Emergency managers are reporting standing water over many roads in Monroe (Green County) with numerous barricades up and local creeks beginning to spill into the floodplain.


Areas over southern Wisconsin and northwest Illinois did experience periods of moderate to heavy rain late Monday afternoon with anywhere from a half an inch, up to three quarters of an inch coming down.


Another round of moderate to heavy rain is moving in from the southwest with the heaviest rainfall focused more over Lee and DeKalb counties.  Additional rainfall coming in from the southwest will move to the northeast through at least Midnight.  With the rainfall moving in this evening and early overnight, an additional half an inch, up to an inch of rain could fall.  The rain showers may lighten a little during the overnight, but a second round of heavy rain will move in before sunrise Tuesday.


An Areal Flood Warning continues for the following counties: Green, Rock and Walworth counties
