Along with it being a soggy couple of days, it will also be foggy. We've seen already this morning light scattered showers lifting north across the Stateline, but over the last few hours visibility has dropped as well. Visibility is generally around a mile for most, though will turn a bit more dense in localized places.
This happens as warm moist air is brought northward, moving over the snow pack we have across northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. With already a lot of moisture already lifting north due to an incoming warm front, the melting snow is also adding to the moisture in the atmosphere.
This will keep fog around through the afternoon, but once we get a bit more widespread rain, it will help to get rid of the fog. Of course then we have to deal with periods of rain, some of which will be heavy. The heavier rain arrives later today and tonight, through Tuesday.
Temperatures at least will have a spring-like feel, as we climb into the upper 40's and low 50's both today and Tuesday.
