Thursday started off with plenty of cloud cover, but the sunshine was quick to return following the passage of a cold front and drier air from the North. Highs Thursday reached the 33 degrees, but that was shortly before 1am. Since then, temperatures have been in the 20's and are now slowly dropping into the low 20's. Winds from the North pushed wind chills all afternoon into the teens and will help bring wind chills down into the single digits for the start of Friday.
High pressure moving in has its origins from well north, in Canada, where temperatures have been in the single digits and even below zero for the past few days. While it won't get that cold Friday or Saturday, highs will remain in the 20's and overnight lows will stay in the low teens.
A warming trend, however, will be felt heading into next week with highs warming back into the 30's. Even the upper 30's will be possible towards the middle of next week.
The cold Thursday and Friday night won't be close to any record lows. The record low for Thursday night is -10 degrees set back in 1964 and -11 degrees for Friday night set back in 1977.
