Sunsets, Cloudy Skies and Southern Storm

Tonight and Sunday evening's sunsets will both occur at 4:23pm. That is the earliest the sunset will be for the winter season. After this weekend, we will add daylight in the evening, even though we will continue to loose daylight in the morning. After December 21st, the shortest day of the year and the winter solstice, we will begin to gain daylight.
After Sunday's sunset of 4:23pm, we will add daylight in the evening. By the end of 2018, we will gain 10 minutes of daylight in the evening. By January 24th, the sun won't set until 5pm and then just before we spring ahead in March we'll have a sunset just before 6pm.
Clouds were the story much of the day and into the early evening hours. The cloudy skies help keep much of the area from breaking out of the 20s.
Skies are already trying to show signs of turning partly cloudy. We'll keep the partly cloudy skies around into Sunday with highs warming into the lower 30s.
Just off to the south, they are dealing with a storm system that stretches from Texas to the East Coast.
While much of the south is dealing with rain, the mountains of North Carolina are dealing with decent snowfall.
The northern edge of the storm is dumping a wintry mix from northern Tennessee back into Arkansas.
